 Dixie County is
very easy to find and it's quite easy to find your way around Dixie County. We are bordered on
the North by Lafayette County, the West by the Steinhatchee River and Taylor County, the East
by the Suwannee River and Gilchrest and Levy Counties and the South by the Gulf of Mexico. Route
26 out of Fanning Springs will take you into Gainesville. 19/98/27A goes to Perry and
Tallahassee to the North and Tampa to the South. Route 349 takes you up to Mayo and Branford.
Cross City is the county seat of Dixie County, complete with Town Hall, County Courthouse, Cross City Airport, and many motels and restaurants.
Old Town is a picturesque little town on the Suwannee River. Dominated by huge old Live Oak trees, the Old Town hammock is a lovely place to live and raise a family.
The town of Suwannee - where the Suwannee River meets the Gulf of Mexico is a thriving waterfront community and great seafood can be had here.
Horseshoe Beach is a sleepy little fishing town on the Gulf and is just the place for a laid-back vacation.
